What information does Marquee & Co need to complete a quote?

The more information you’d be able to give us the better. The price will depend on a few different factors, think of guest numbers, size of marquee, set-up, the location, the purpose of the marquee (dancing or seating) and whether you require additional items like tables, chairs or other furniture. What sizes are your tables and how many people can they seat?

Our tables are all the same length. They’re 2100 long and 880 wide, and can comfortable fit 3 people on each side. We have designed trestle legs that don’t get in the way like other tables do. Check the gallery for some images to see these in action.

We’ve been told that a clear marquee can get too hot and that our flowers will die. Is this true?

We’ve heard this too, and luckily we’ve never experienced wilted flowers! We - especially the marquee setup crew - have experienced the heat though. Clear marquees can obviously get quite warm during hot days, a lot warmer than you’re typical white marquee. We’d like to assure you though that we put everything in place to not let your flowers wilt nor let your guests sweat!

Firstly, we have a cover for the clear marquee, which allows florists and stylists to work in the shade during setup and this will keep the sun out before your wedding starts/ you’ll be using the marquee.

Secondly, most couples won’t use a clear marquee for their ceremony during the daytime - often it’s a backup plan for when the weather tuns out to be rainy or cold.

If you’d like to have your ceremony in a clear marquee and expect it will be a hot day, we’d advise you to start using the clear marquee after 4PM. This that means you could choose to have your ceremony in the marquee in the late afternoon, or just use the marquee for the late afternoon and evening events.

The reason why people all around the world, including the hotter places, are loving the clear marquees is because they want have something a little bit different, prefer to look at stars and the beautiful scenery of their chosen venue. And with our clear marquees, we’ll make sure that your wedding day will be amazing with that romantic feel of nature, stars, beauty and ambiance being part of your wedding day.

Can I hire furniture without hiring a Marquee?

Get in touch with us, as we may be able to help you with what you’re looking for! We have some exciting new furniture coming up for the 2020 season so always worth to check with us.

Our furniture is locally hand-crafted in Taranaki by our lovely folks enjoying their hobby! We also have some items that we’ve purchased from second hand locations and have “upcycled” into rustic looking items. We’ll have more to come for our 2020 wedding season! Watch the space.

What type of marquees does Marquee & Co offer?

We have a full range of clear marquees that allow you to have your wedding under the sky and the stars. You can view our marquee sizes and the floor plan options here.

Does the quote include set-up and dismantling?

Our base quote doesn’t include the setup and dismantling of the marquee, so that we can keep the flexibility in pricing options to work within your needs.

We of course have the ability to set up and dismantle the marquee for you. We have an experienced in-house team and all the necessary certifications to set-up marquees are taken care of!

Does the location of the marquee need to be level?

Ideally, yes! The flatter the ground, the better your marquee will turn out. In the situation where you’re unsure whether the ground is level enough, we’d love to join you for a site visit and have a closer look.

What kind of vehicle access do you need?

We have a 4-wheel drive for transporting our marquees. This means that we can get the marquee to most places. If you foresee a possible challenging access, let us know and we would love to join you for a site visit to double check, avoiding surprises.

How can I stay in contact with you while you’re working on set-up for our event?

We’ll make sure you can get hold of us. There will be two marquee specialists on duty that you can get in touch with during your booking, and we’ll provide you with the best number to reach them on.

Will the Marquee withstand rough weather?

These marquees are robust and strong and we are experienced in setting up and securing these accordingly. Obviously, they are made for being your safety net when the weather turns! They’re rain proof and can withstand high winds. However when there are weather warnings and strong storms coming up, we will monitor this during the lead up and event day itself.

Can the marquee be used on concrete?

Absolutely. Our marquees can be used on all sorts of ground. Just bear in mind that the marquee doesn’t come with a floor. So when choosing the ideal location for the marquee, you could consider the ideal floor area depending on your purpose.

What is the typical hire period?

For a weekend wedding, we would normally set up Thursday and pack down Monday. However everything is adaptable and we can be flexible with arrangements. If you would like to extend this period that is no worries, we have extension rates available.

How do I heat or cool a Marquee?

In case the weather is cold or hot we have air movers and heaters available to hire.

And as the marquees are transparent, they can get warm during the hottest hours in the day in summer. In case it’s expected to be a warm day on your wedding day, we’d recommend to start using your marquee after the peak heat hours, so that’s after 4PM.

Most of our marquees are used for afternoon and evening weddings, as that is the moment where the clear marquee’s shows it’s true value, being able to see stars, and by creating that ideal ambiance with lighting and decorations in your style.

We don’t offer this directly, but we’ve worked together with some great wedding styling professionals in Taranaki! Get in touch with us and we’d be happy to recommend someone that will suit your style.
